Selling a raw card at Near Mint or better Can result in getting a PSA 7
I purchased a football card for over $2,000 and had it sent straight to PSA to get graded. The seller listed the card as near mint to better, just out of the pack with minor edge wear. No other flaws noted.
Authenticity looked at the card and okayed the sellers description sending it on to PSA. Still unseen by me. PSA said they found indentions in it not noticed by the seller or the Authenticator, resulting in the lowest pop score of a PSA 7 making the card worthless to most collectors. Meaning I lost out on a ton of money and never saw the item.
I just received the card yesterday. eBay customer service tells me today that a card listed as near mint or better (the HIGHEST grade a seller can give the item) should be expected as a NM PSA 7 and that I should be satisfied as a collector. Because PSA says it’s near mint too. At a 7.
How am I held accountable for the damage to the card if I never saw it or shipped it? How did authenticity miss such big indentions when they ask the seller to rate this very aspect when grading the card?
So much for authenticity being the last line of defense and protecting the buyer.
