Sellers refund to buyer did not include sales tax?

Question

I just issued a refund to a buyer because I had listed the item as "local pickup" and he mistaken;ly purchased the item. When I issued the refund he did not get credit for the sales tax amount shown that he paid on his original order. Why?

@oldtimerwoods  < When I issued the refund he did not get credit for the sales tax >      eBay collected the sales tax for remitting to the buyer's state.  eBay refunds the sales tax portion of the buyer's funds.
