Seller's post says "offers accepted," but even a dollar less is instantly turned down
Curious if eBay has a policy when a seller's ad states to "make an offer." Not all ads do. But when a seller states that s/he will accept "best offer," I was quite surprised that my offer was INSTANTLY rejected when offering just $1 dollar less. Felt a bit like fraud. Wondering if eBay polices any of this.

Mentor10 months agoebay has been known to add Best Offer on a seller's account without his/her knowledge. If the seller is declining a $1 discount then I suspect the seller wants the fixed price amount and not a penny less.

·10 months agoeBay does not require sellers to accept any offer made to them, and there is no specific threshold for automatic acceptance or minimum amounts for offers, so yes, they can set it up that way if they choose. I’m not sure what they gain by doing so, and it’s entirely possible it was a mistake, but I would probably take it as a sign to find a different seller.
One exception to that would be if it was an auction style listing. Offers on auctions are often expected to be higher than the starting bid, rather than lower.
