Sellers not in USA selling as USA seller off Amazon
Summary: jbejamebenja expressed concerns about sellers on eBay who list items as being from the USA but are actually from Israel, reselling Amazon products at a markup. gosimus suggested checking seller profiles to verify their location. eburtonlab provided detailed advice on how to identify such sellers by checking estimated delivery dates, seller profiles, and feedback for signs of drop-shipping or international shipping. They also recommended being cautious of sellers using stock photos, offering free shipping on heavy items, and having poor feedback records.
Hello does anyone know why eBay allows sellers in Israel to sell as USA sellers but all they do is just order it on Amazon and charge $10 more then Amazon. I noticed this when I selected us seller or North America sellers then selected free shipping searched my item and when I click the persons profile most are from Israel. How can they be a USA seller if they are not actually here? Why are more people just marking up a product and selling it via eBay but ordering it on Amazon. The problem here is I don’t want to support Amazon and prefer to buy from sellers in this country. Any ways to avoid this scam they have on eBay without having to click each persons profile?

Mentor1 month agoSome eBay sellers are also Amazon sellers so they us the Amazon fulfillment service to ship their eBay items. This is eBay legal. However, if they are just purchasing from an Amazon seller and having the item shipped to you as a gift then this violates both eBay and Amazon policy. So it you receive the item with a gift receipt in the package you can report this to eBay customer service and they can forward this information to the appropriate department to suspend the sellers account.

Probably the best way to deal with sellers that misrepresent item location is to avoid them whenever possible. The "US only" item location filter selects items that are listed as being in the United States; however, as you have seen, not every seller that lists items in the US ships from the US as they should.
Before ordering you should check the estimated delivery dates -- that is a good indication of how far away items actually ship from. Generic shipping options or DHL may be a sign of an international shipment. Also, going to a seller's profile page or feedback page will tell you where the seller's account was registered. Although some overseas sellers do use US warehouses to ship their items (and some registered US-sellers may employ drop-shippers), if a seller is registered overseas, that raises the likelihood of an item shipping from outside the US, particularly for multiple quantity commodity items. Checking seller feedback closely will often reveal if there are problems with long shipping times, canceled orders or other supply chain warning signs, particularly if buyers that encounter problems with drop-shippers leave feedback indicating that.
It may not be possible to always identify in advance those sellers who drop-ship, but it is possible to identify some common characteristics of illicit retail drop-shippers or other under-performing sellers, and thus avoid the worst of them.
Often they can be spotted by a combination of low feedback number, free shipping of heavy items where it would not be profitable to use retail shipping, use of stock photos, high handling time (not necessarily if they are using Amazon or Walmart, though), poor feedback received with complaints of delays and wrong items or out of stock cancellations, very odd item selection and/or quantities like items were chosen at random from a catalog, canned item descriptions scraped from another site that exactly match many other similar listings, differences between registration location on the feedback page and item location (or vague item location -- like "US, United States"), or inability to answer even basic questions about the items being sold.

Yes, that's one of the first things to do: check the seller's profile first, before buying, and if they're not in the U.S., then move on and try to find another seller more to your liking.
