Sellers dropping prices

Question

What does everyone think about the sneaky way sellers drop prices? You will watch an item that's say $50.00 with free shipping. Then you get an email stating they dropped the price to $30.00. You spend your time to go look at it again and it is $30.00. But now shipping is $20.00. This seems to be a trick that many sellers use. I think that is very unprofessional like. To say the least. What do you think?

@dadcock69 < What do you think? > I think that if $50 was too much one way, it's still too much another way. Maybe the seller had originally rolled the $20 into the item price so he could entice buyers with "free" shipping. But then realized that if he accepted a return – either voluntarily or imposed – he would not be able to consider the price and shipping as separate costs for the refund. edited to add ~ To elaborate, some types of returns allow the seller to refund only the cost of the item, and not refund the shipping.

I agree it is unprofessional and something many sellers, myself included, would never do. But it is not against the rules. Buyers should always shop by total price and make their own decisions. That being said, shipping did just go up...for the 4th time this year. Another increase will come before the holidays.
