Sellers block buyers
When is the time going to come we as buyers can block sellers when they harass us, call us names, accuse of lying, and get butt hurt when they DESERVE negative or neutral feedback and they have the right to block us? Double standards, hypocrisy, and it's time for that to change immediately.

-Unfortunately, eBay stopped letting Sellers leave Neutral or Negative Feedback for Buyers back in 2008. So in basic terms the Feedback system is biased towards Buyers who now ALL have 100% Feedback ratings even if they leave less than Positive FB for Sellers.
-I do not know what the ratio is but a safe statement might be there are just as many or close to the same amount of Buyers doing all the things the Seller is accused of doing ...
-I would be fine with Buyers having the same ability to Bock Sellers (or have them excluded from Search results) as Sellers do ... but it might be hard to manage depending on how it was implemented.
-We get a regular flow of Buyers sharing an experience and then asking if Neg FB is justified. As you can imagine there are numerous opinions on the subject. I typically will point out that less than Positive FB is as much a reflection on the Buyer as it is on the Seller because everyone can see what type of FB one leaves for others. As a matter of fact I have one right now where a Buyer placed a bid on an auction, I normally do not check FB but for some reason I decided to check ... OMG, Buyer has left 7 Neg FB of a total of 29 ... that's like 1 in 4 ... then reading their FB it is apparent they do not communicate with their Sellers (Trading Partners is how eBay identifies a Buyer and Seller on a transaction) to try and work things out ... they just slap down the Neg FB ... sadly, that is not how eBay envisioned the system to work.

Mentor2 years ago@ryanroy2 You are more than welcome ... the Feedback system is probably due for an overhaul to be honest. From a Buying standpoint I think there is high value for Buyers to know the tendencies of Sellers on the site. I am not sure how that is accomplished BUT I think it could be improved with a better vetting system by eBay. I mean if they improved the quality of the Sellers that are allowed to sell on the site the entire experience and reputation improves.
There are enough members here (Both Buyers and Sellers) that I am sure they could come up with a very workable solution and a system that allows Buyers to know the type of Sellers they are dealing with and Sellers knowing the type of Buyers they are selling to.

OP2 years agoI agree with you 💯! I wish you had more of a say so with what goes on ebay because putting those kinds of policies in place and making those changes would be absolutely critical for ALL of ebay as a WHOLE.

·2 years agoSince many years ago. You can block up to 10 sellers' items from showing up in a search result using the filters in Advanced Search or in the left column of the search results page (More Refinements: Seller). You find the filter where you limit the results to those of given seller(s) and change the "Include" to "Exclude" and list up to 10 IDs in the following text box.
You can then save the search (link towards the top left of the results) and then access the saved search in My eBay: Saved Searches (you'll probably want to turn off notices of new listings while you're there) changing the keywords and other filters as needed to find what you are looking for. You can save multiple searches with up to 10 sellers excluded in each to use for searches in different categories (or other way to distinguish which set of sellers is most likely to have listings in what you are searching for).

OP2 years agoUmm no. I'm speaking of the MESSAGES. Sellers can block us from replying to messages but BUYERS can't block a SELLER when they send nasty messages. You have no idea what I meant. I wish they had actual ebay employees on here.

·2 years agoYou can block some (but not all, depends on circumstances such as whether you responded to a prior message or was in a recent transaction with the user) messages by adding the user to your Blocked Bidder/Buyer List and setting your Buyer Requirements to block messages from blocked users, even if you never sell anything: Go to the Site Map (link at the bottom of this and most ebay.com pages) Sell Section (use the shortcut at the top--it's a long scroll down) and you'll find the link to those (Buyer Requirements are at the bottom of the page the link to the BB/BL first takes you to) and several other useful seller tools.
The exact same way that a seller can block messages. I highly doubt that an "eBay employee" would have better understood what you were TRYING to ask from what you said.
