Seller's account has been suspended or terminated after I bought an item and I suspect fraud.
Summary: The discussion centers around a concern from brookertrout regarding the suspension or termination of a seller's account following a purchase they made. brookertrout suspects that fraud might be involved. lady_madonna responds to this situation, but there are no details of resolution or further advice available in the conversation.
I won an auction and paid for an item from a seller in China. I just noticed the arrival date is months away, which is suspicious. They claim they shipped it, but when I check the tracking it does not show anything. When I contacted the seller I got a message pop up from ebay saying "This user cannot receive messages because their account has been suspended or terminated. Please use caution before taking further action." Well, I already paid using my Paypal account and now I can not contact seller. What should my next steps be? I dont see a way of contacting ebay for help. Do I have to wait until the expected arrival date before I can request a refund? Thanks!

OP3 months agoUpdate: Seller replied to me explaining why my package did not arrive with this crazy story:
"Hello, I just contacted the post office staff. The product has arrived in your city. Due to your address and phone number being unclear. This has affected the delivery time. I have informed the post office staff to deliver the product to you again. You open the dispute now. This will have a significant negative impact on my store, affecting its sales revenue. For the safety of transactions. If the dispute cannot be closed within 24 hours. I will immediately intercept the item. cancellation of order. We will provide you with a full refund. If you need the product. Please temporarily close the dispute. We will urge the postal staff to send the product to you as soon as possible. We guarantee that you will receive the product within 3-5 days. Please reply to me as soon as possible."
I read about this scam where they send something cheap to a different location in your city so they can say it did arrive. What do you think I should do next?

Mentor3 months agoThat is a CRAZY story. They are SCAMMERS. Do NOT close the dispute under any circumstances. It is NOT "temporary". If you close the dispute it is PERMANENT and you will not be able to get help from Ebay.
If your refund request is still open, you can ask Ebay to step in to help you.
If Ebay denies your refund request stating that the item has been delivered, then you will need to escalate.
The easiest way would be to file a Return Request due to "missing parts or pieces". Since the seller is in China, they would have to send you money to cover the return shipping, which I doubt that they will do. They will have to either send you a full refund OR if they do not, you can ask Ebay to step in to help you receive the refund.
This is EXACTLY why I no longer purchase items from Ebay sellers located in China. Been there, done that.
Good luck!!

OP3 months agoHi, I just checked my account and it claims that my item was delivered but of course it has not been delivered. The expected arrival date is not past yet, but it says it delivered. Can I go ahead and request a refund from ebay? Should I disput this with my credit card? Thank you!

OP3 months agoThank you for the help! I will wait until the estimated delivery date has passed by one full day and if it has not arrived I will follow your instructions to get help with a refund.

Mentor4 months agoGo to your Purchase History and click on Order Details next to the item title to see if the latest estimated date of delivery has already passed.
IF/WHEN the latest estimated date of delivery has already passed by at least 1 day, you have up to 30 days past estimated date of delivery to file a Refund Request:
Go to your My Ebay page >> Purchase history
If the seller does not respond to the refund request, after 3 business days you can ask Ebay to step in to help you.
