Seller won't issue return label even though the ad states 30 day returns and seller pays freight.
Summary: cartivamn tried to cancel an order shortly after purchase but was told it was already in transit. On receiving the item, they initiated a return but faced issues with the seller requiring shipping to Great Britain instead of the US, which contradicted the advertisement's terms of 30-day returns with seller-paid shipping. fashionsandbeauty4u explained that since the reason for return is "no longer needed," unless free returns were explicitly offered, cartivamn would need to pay for return shipping. cartivamn is seeking advice on how to involve eBay to resolve the discrepancy.
I bought an item that I tried to cancel within hours of placing the order. I was told the item was already in transit and could not be cancelled. Once I received the item I initiated a return but was given a return address to ship the item to Great Britain, even though the ad showed US seller with money back 30 day returns. I asked the seller for a return label and why it was to be sent overseas? He responded by giving me a US address, but still no return label.
How do I get ebay involved to resolve this? The return details states that the buyer has given a way to return the product, technically yes, but I shouldn't be responsible for the shipping as the ad states seller pays return shipping. What can I do?

If the seller shipped from the US they are not allowed to require a return to another country even for BUYERS REMORSE RETURNS.
Select the return item button on this page:
Ask eBay to Step In from the case after 4 business days if the seller has not refunded or sent the money to your PayPal account to pay return shipping to Britain>
https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/ask-ebay-step-help-buyers?id=4701&st=
The seller then has the choice of sending you the money to pay return shipping to your PayPal account OR refunding you without a return of the item. Do NOT pay return shipping yourself and expect to be refunded for it after the item is returned even if an agent says to do this as eBay can not force a refund from the seller for more than the original sale price.
eBay may place the case on hold for 5 days if the seller chooses the PayPal option.
99% of the time a seller in another country will refund without a return of the item once you involve customer service.
Returns to countries NOT on this list must ship via Priority Mail or you will not have tracking proof of delivery.>

If you do have to buy a return label with the funds the seller provided then you MUST enter the tracking number into the return request so you will have proof of the return.
Adding tracking to your return:
Adding tracking details to your return helps protect against delays or issues in the refund process.
Here's how to add the tracking information to your return if you're using your own return shipping label:
Go to the return request in Purchase History.
Select the shipping carrier from the dropdown list. If you select Other, enter the carrier name.
Enter the tracking number.
Select Mark as sent.

The answer will depend on your reason for wanting to return. If you could provide that, we'd be happy to try to help.

OP3 weeks agoI sold the vehicle for which the item was meant for, so I chose the response of "no longer needed" in the return request.

Unless this Seller offered free, 30-day returns in that listing, if you chose no longer needed as the return reason, you are responsible for paying for return shipping.
