Seller won't deliver, keeps inventing fake tracking
I bought a Yeti Rambler mug on 2/24, so the seller marked the product as shipped, and provided a tracking number that was non-working on 3/9.
Nothing got delivered, so the seller updated tracking with a second nonworking tracking number on 3/19.
Still nothing received, so I requested a refund.
The seller updated today with new fake FedEx tracking that began and ended in my city in one day, and a fake picture of a delivery. (It is not my house.)
FedEx was not here and it's all a ruse. My product is marked as delivered. Will eBay help?

OP2 years agoWhat is eBay actually doing about these fake tracking scammers. They look at the fake tracking and tell you looks like you got your package. We can't refund your money. Too bad, how sad.
I never want to buy anything here again. I'm sure they won't miss me.

Mentor2 years agoOthers that have obtained documentation from the shipping service and contacted eBay via social media as outlined in the link I provided have gotten refunds from eBay.
Were you able to do that?
If you vet your sellers with some care and choose sellers with a demonstrated history of delivering what was advertised, you can avoid many issues like this entirely.

OP2 years agoeBay decided in favor of the scammer. Just letting you all know there's little to no justice at this site. I took it up with the credit card company and rethinking my patronage of this site.
I buy regularly at this site and clearly need to stop. You go to Amazon and scammers don't receive space to operate freely, and the site will return your money without giving you lip. People say Amazon is too rich, but look at the difference in how they run their site.
The scammer is also sending me polite messages confirming delivery just to rub it in.

Mentor2 years agoCheck your order details to make sure the correct address appears there. That is the address the seller is required to ship to.
Contact the shipping service to determine if the tracking number you received was for a package that was addressed to you.
Good advice for dealing with false tracking:

What kind of feedback does your seller have?
You can avoid many fake tracking issues by choosing to only do business with experienced sellers that have a proven track record of delivering similar items as seen by examining the seller's feedback page, and by avoiding inexperienced sellers, sellers with patterns of negative feedback indicating serious problems, or sellers with large gaps in the selling history or recent drastic changes of seller behavior.

OP2 years agoSpeaking of feedback, I left a negative on him where I addressed the fake tracking issue. He made it go away. I didn't think he was able to do that.
He did several bizarre things as far as tracking. On the day I asked for a refund, he created the delivery scenario, where my package was "delivered" with all delivery events happening within my city on the same day. The final delivery pic #1 did not show my house.
I told him it's not my house, so he sent a second pic showing a delivery box that was on my porch a couple of weeks ago. The box was a mis-delivery from Dick's Sporting Goods that said "Ferguson" (I am not he). This was a totally separate, unrelated incident, but I don't how he got a picture of that box.
He's working hard to gaslight me into thinking I got my delivery. I told him I won't deal with him and will be working with eBay to get my refund.
