Seller Wants My PayPal
I know this has been posted before this one has a twist. The seller listed an item that did not fit the description for over $100. He is in the NY area. As soon as I opened a return request, he changed his ebay mailing address to China. He wants my PayPal address and gives me an unofficial return address of New Jersey. Yet he is pressing me to keep the faulty item for a partial refund. I have resisted giving my PayPal info. Am I right to insist on a proper shipping label to the NY area? Or is he right, and I should give my PayPal? It has seemed very questionable. Thank you for your assistance.

If he wants the item sent to China, then he needs your paypal address to send you the money for the return shipping, but not if he wants it sent to NJ. Tell him if he has a NJ return address to put that in the system and issue the return label through the return. If he won't, ask customer service for assistance.
To speak to customer service, use the link this page “have us call you†- https://www.ebay.com/help/eua?id=5275&mkevt=1&mkpid
If you don't see 'have us call you', click chat. Then type contact an agent.

OP1 year agoThank you for the help. I told him to change his address so he can issue the label. We have gone back and forth daily for a week where I say please issue the return label with paid return shipping to the U.S. destination as was originally posted in the listing. He responds with "Please give me your PayPal address and ship to the unverified address." As this was an expensive-to-us item, we see too many inconsistencies. I have NOT wanted to disclose my PayPal. So I appreciate your advice.

When you speak to customer service, make sure they understand he is asking you to ship to a US address outside of the return process. I suspect they will just refund your purchase.
