Seller underestimated shipping cost, demands extra payment

I purchased a car bumper, and the seller submitted tracking info to eBay but hasn't shipped.

He's holding off on shipping, claiming the real shipping cost is higher. He's demanding I remit the difference before shipping the item.

I refused, saying I never agreed to send an extra payment. When I was a seller I would eat the cost if shipping was higher than what I charged.

Funny that he made a payment demand like 5 minutes after the auction ended.

All this feels scammy. He offered to cancel the sale, per my request, but keeps trying to convince me he's a victim of ebay and I should send him another payment.

I simply no longer trust him. What do you think?

I don't care to make trouble for him or myself and just want my money back. Enough drama for me and the scary truth is he's got my address. He's still carrying on that it's ebay's fault, he's a victim, yada-yada. He also doesn't like my attitude. From him:

"I canceled the label I’ll go to upstairs tomorrow am and if it isn’t a total loss of money I will send out of pocket otherwise idk how to cancel the sale"

I'm like great, more messages coming from him. Got 11 so far and his dysfunction is still my problem.

Lots of people in this space are not fit to be sellers. I'm just going to back off and let ebay intervene if I need help with him.

I'm so sorry you encountered this problem. You're a kind and patient person.

Remember to follow @comics-scifi-collectibles  if the estimated delivery date passes and you don't have either your item or your refund. You'll find the option to open a case for an item not received next to the transaction in your Orders list to get your money back.

Tell the seller that you are NOT requesting a cancellation and that you want the item shipped per his contract with you. If he chooses to cancel, he'll need to use the reason that he is out of stock. Let him know that if he chooses the reason that you requested the cancellation, that will be reported to eBay.

If you need it, here is the report link:

    https://www.ebay.com/help/action?topicid=4022

    1. Select The seller has violated one of eBay’s policies and click Continue.
    2. On the next page, enter the seller's ID and select Other.
    3. In the comment section, write "In order to avoid a defect, seller cancelled order stating that I requested the cancellation ."

You can also report the seller for attempting to charge more than what was shown in the listing.

And of course you can leave appropriate feedback...

@manekeniko  Tell the seller per eBay policy they are not allowed to charge more shipping than stated on the listing.  They should use calculated shipping based on the package weight and size when creating the listing.

    Tell him to cancel.

OR if he doesn't cancel  then you have to wait until the item is a day late arriving and then file a not received refund request.   eBay can't force the seller to cancel now but they can force the seller to refund when the item is late arriving.
