Seller texting to my personal phone number

Had a seller text me on my personal phone to verify something about an item I bought. I’ve never had someone text me outside of the eBay system. Is this a legit option? If so, how can I turn this off?

You really cannot turn this off. Buyers and sellers exchange contact information when the sale is made so any problems can be worked out. No one else will receive this information. This is not really a common thing. In all my years of selling I have only had a call from one buyer after the sale.
