Seller sold item not in his possession
I won a bid for a MacBook Air. I paid for the item immediately after winning. I contacted the seller twice in reference to when the item will be shipped. The seller never responded. I then get a message from the seller advising that the laptop was just recently returned to him, but it has damage. So to me… that means he sold a defective laptop to someone and it was returned. So he put the item back on EBay without having said item in his possession. Now he tells me that he spoke with EBay and I must initiate a refund. I do not have an option to initiate a refund. Only the seller can initiate. This sounds like a total scam.

Mentor3 years agoI'm so sorry this happened to you.
Advise the seller that he needs to cancel the order today using the reason that the item is out of stock or damaged and he can find this option in the dropdown next to the order. If he has any trouble executing this, he needs to contact eBay for help or he can come to this board for help from mentors. Let him know that if the cancellation confirmation doesn't come through within 24 hours, you'll feel obligated to report him to eBay for listing an item not in his possession, that is damaged, and for stalling on refunding your money when he knew all along he wouldn't be shipping the item.

If he falsifies the reason for the cancellation (i.e. chooses the option that says you requested it, that can also be reported at the link above).
To contact eBay directly if needed, at the link below, you can request a call back from eBay by clicking Have us call you on the left side of the page. If you don't see that option, click Chat with our automated assistant. Then type "agent" at the bottom in the chat box. You'll see an option to request a call back there.
