The return time is stated on every listing right below the estimated delivery time and again in the returns section of the shipping options. While that isn't the timeout you encountered, which is the time you have to go back an ask ebay to step in, which is as soon as 4 days and up to 30 days, but that is stated when you open a Return Request. Still bad sellers either count on your missing that or lead you on making you think you can ignore it.
Seller has closed the return and there does not appear to be an option to reopen it. Very disappointing . Ebay does not stand with the buyer in this case.
Ebay would have refunded without a return if you asked ebay to step in, otherwise it will get closed. One last chance is to open a dispute with the payment processor.
I DID ask Ebay to step in!! We had a long chat about it. eBay Document ID: 136649381008, I was still not able to reopen the dispute. Ebay did not help at all. It got closed BEFORE by the seller I asked ebay to step in. I was under the impression that they could reopen it.
Then you waited too long to ask ebay to step in by going back to the Return Request in the Resolution Center, not by chatting about it. Otherwise ebay would have forced seller to refund. Now you can not open another dispute on ebay, but you can with the payment processor. Do that now.
How is someone supposed to know how long is "too long"?? The seller kept responding to my emails and acting like he was going to do something. Obviously, he was just stringing me along to chew up the "clock". I want him blacklisted for such unethical behavior. He should NEVER be allowed to screw people over again!!! Great way to treat disabled vets....... ebay is complicit here also!!!
Yes, it sounds like the seller was stringing you along pass the cut off date of 30 days. That's why a refund is always better than waiting for a replacement. Although the time frame is stated in the return process, many people miss it. At least you have a backup of filing for a refund with the payment processor, usually up to 180 days. Do that now.
Open a Return Request for an ITEM NOT AS DESCRIBED, wrong item. This overrides no-returns. Seller will pay for the return, if he wants it back, and/or refund. If no response by the fourth day, go back and ask ebay to step in. Do not close or let the case expire without doing this, if not resolved.

OP2 years agoThe return time frame should be prominently stated in the SALES process so the buyer is aware BEFORE the sale.
