Seller Sent My Item to Someone Else – How Do I Recover My Remaining Costs?
Hello fellow buyers,
The seller accidentally sent my item to someone else and has partially refunded me. However, I received another buyer’s item, which I did not order or want.
I’m still out of pocket for postage and GST. As the mix-up wasn’t my fault, I don’t believe I should have to bear these costs.
I’ve had little success finding a way to contact eBay directly. Does anyone know how I can get the remaining amount reimbursed?
Thanks for any advice.

There are 2 ways you can suggest that the seller deal with this.
1) Go to the more actions button in your purchase history and File a return request for the item, selecting Sent wrong item as the reason. the seller will have 3 days to either send you a return label, or refund the remaining funds you are owed. If they refuse or do not respond on day 4 open the return and click on the Ask ebay to step in and they will refund the remaining amount.
2) If you are willing to forward the item to the correct buyer, if the seller sends you a shipping label to do so, tell the seller you would do that. Ask the seller to check with the buyer whose item you received first, asking them if they would accept forwarding the item to you, if they are sent a shipping label from their location to yours, Then once both of you have labels exchange the items. Sounds more complicated than it is, but it worked for me once.
