Seller send fake items and eBay used package tracking to say I got the item and refused a refund
Hello,
I recently bought an $800 item. The seller send baby wipes and water bottles (weight) in a USPS signature required package.
Oddly he also send me a message that the wrong items were send and he will send a new one ASAP. I say odd because he admitted to the 'mistake' in beat messaging. I confirmed in the same messaging that I got his mistake package and put photos there. I asked for the tracking of the correct one.
He said he would get it from his office later.
Then he went silent. He stopped responding.
I opened a refund case and eBay claimed that based on the communications and tracking I received my item. This appears to be some strange AI checking these as a human could not make that mistake based on the conversation.
I opened an appeal now, with photos. But I noticed that there is no longer a phone number. And I would call my credit card, but I used eBay GC's for this purchase, so that's out.
Any ideas on how to reach a real person at eBay?

You filed the wrong case. You need to file a RETURN REQUEST, not a refund request since you did receive the wrong item.

OP1 year agoI was looking for the 'received wrong item', but it was not in the list of issues, so I just to did not receive one. It never occurred to me to do the 'return' instead. Thanks!

Mentor1 year agoIt sounds like you filed the wrong case. You would lose an Item Not Received case since tracking shows you received something. You need to file a Returns Request for Item Not as Described.
Go to My ebay > Purchase History and select RETURN THIS ITEM. You have up to 30 days from receipt of the item. Select a reason. For Not as Described, you will need to click on More actions. The seller will have 3 days to reply. If no reply, then click the link to Ask ebay to step in. Print out the label, affix it to the box, and make sure the carrier scans the label. Once tracking shows DELIVERED back to the seller, s/he has 2 days to refund you. If no refund, go back to the case and click Ask ebay to step in, to force the refund.
