Seller requests to change buyer feedback?
I gave honest feedback on an electric nail grinder/file for "thick nails" and I received a request by the seller to reframe my feedback so that it was positive rather than neutral. They said that they would lose their job that they so badly need in order to pay for the schooling. While I understand the situation, although the item came from China, it was said to be US stock, with no indication that China was where it was coming from. I do consider the item to not be for people that are not familiar with professional nail Care and tools. I do feel like it would be dangerous for the average person to use. I did not ask for a refund, I didn't give a negative review but rather neutral. I stated these things honestly and carefully.
As a conscientious and concerned adult, I thought it important to give this feedback. I am concerned that buyers can be subjected pleas from the sellers to not give an honest review, especially if there is concern for safety issues. I have never left a bad review, never a neutral. But because this was a concern about safety, I felt it needed to be posted. And I was very careful to not make a definitive negative but rather neutral in order to hopefully raise the flag so others would possibly avoid an unfortunate or potentially harmful situation. I don't understand why eBay would allow a seller to request of the buyer to change their feedback under these circumstances.
Please give your honest opinion. I might consider withdrawing my feedback, but I am not going to lie and say that it's a great product, when I believe it could be a safety concern in the wrong hands. If eBay has been made aware of potential safety issues, and they allow a seller to to request positive feedback instead of negative; if I remove my warning-neutral comment in response to the seller pleas, any "damage control" for allowing unsafe goods on their site...is on them.

As of this writing, that seller has six neutral feedbacks and three negatives. If a less than positive feedback resulted in an employee's termination, they'd run out of employees in a hurry. I think it's a ploy to play on your sympathy. I agree with the previous responder, leave it as it is.

Mentor1 year agoIt's a neutral. That does not affect the seller's metrics. I would leave the feedback as is.

OP1 year agoThe two reviews that I have received thus far confirmed my suspicions. I will leave the feedback as stands.
I do think that since feedback goes through eBay's hands before being posted, they would not ALLOW sellers to pressure buyers to change their feedback! The feedback should stand so long as it's not an attempt by the buyer to get something for nothing (so to speak), or to irrationally attack the seller because they bought something they didn't like and there is a no return policy.
