SELLER requested I cancel after my valid Payment was accepted

I followed through with Seller Request that I Cancel, though I want the item

Seller wrote after my Payment Processed: "Please cancel the order item not available"

This feels weird, is it at all common? I feel very vulnerable having paid & Seller then requested that I cancel - -which perhaps foolishly I did

It was up to the seller to cancel the transaction if the item was not available. They asked you to cancel in order to avoid receiving a defect from Ebay on their selling account.

In the future, do not agree to request the cancellation if the seller cannot fulfill your order.
