Seller refusing refund unless I give positive feedback
I purchased a vintage glass dish set from a seller. The seller used a box that was too large, and placed broke Styrofoam pieces only in the perimeter of the box then used all of 3 grocery bags to pack 7 glass items. the lids were placed together in one bag. they consequently shattered. i am at 27 days, he is rude, blames Fedex for them breaking, claimed that Pyrex cannot break (it's glass it absolutely can and does break), then says he will resolve it then doesn't resolve it and has resorted to threats and extortion to get a partial refund saying he will only do so in exchange for a positive review. I have never such a n awful seller. The guy makes excuses for everything, but will not resolve the issue unless i hide what he is doing to me and how awful he packed the glass dishes. I can't return the unbroken items (I am disabled and also don't trust the seller anymore to be honest). A partial refund was fine, but the seller is really seriously awful in every way. I reported his extortion attempt to ebay, but beyond that what can i do?

OP2 years agoI just tried to speak with agent and the agent chat window fully disappeared on me as i was trying. I'm giving up. This is completely ridiculous.

You can schedule a pickup from the carrier.

·2 years agoIt doesn’t matter which online marketplace you use, or even a brick and mortar store, they all require items to be returned. I’m trying to get a refund on some fish I bought locally that died two days later; I have to return the dead bodies if I want a refund.

OP2 years agoI get the feeling this seller has done this to other people. His excuses from the start for everything were absolutely ridiculous...instead of accepting that his terrible packing job broke the lids...blame Fedex, then blame his sick cat for not replying at all for 3 weeks, now blaming me for being an unhappy customer. well I can't send them back, and I will no longer be buying on ebay.

OP2 years agoI guess I will no longer be buying anything on ebay. It should allow the buyer to request which type, at least. He is being a sincere abusive seller and found out he can flip it so he really doesn't care if i am able to or happy. he won't lose out on a thing by harassing me then ignoring me in between for the past month

You won't know if he'll offer you a partial refund until he responds to the case. He can't respond to the case until you open it.
If he does not respond to the case and you ask eBay to step in, they will refund in full from his account and you'll keep what you received.
Just follow the process...

OP2 years agoSo he accepted it as a return. But I literally can't return it.

Mentor2 years agoYou can return it. Just put the pieces back into the box and print the label he sent when he accepted the return.

Mentor2 years agoHi @lilkittiekatt
I'm sorry to hear you ran into such a bad seller. What he is doing is feedback extortion which is a policy violation. You can report that here:
https://www.ebay.com/help/action?topicid=4022
If you received an item that is not as described, you have up to 30 days to open a return using the option next to the transaction in your Purchase History. The seller will have 3 business days to provide a prepaid return shipping label or else refund. If he does neither, go back to the case on day 4 and use the option to ask eBay to step in. They will force the refund.
The seller will have an option to offer a partial refund without returning. If that amount is acceptable, you can accept it through the return case.

OP2 years agoThe seller is saying different things, but has not followed through on anything promised so far. I want a partial refund as I cannot return it. The seller told me to return so he can flip it and recover the lost shipping costs of my order and returning it. I literally can't return it. I am disabled, which I have told the seller twice.

If you want a refund, you'll have to return it (unless he sends a partial refund). If he sends you a prepaid label, you can schedule a pickup on the carrier's site. Just follow the instructions I provided previously. Otherwise, eBay can't help you.
