Seller refusing cancellation request before shipping
Summary: lespul-20 expressed frustration with a seller who canceled an order due to a shipping address issue and then delayed responding to a new cancellation request for a reordered item that hadn't shipped yet. They were informed by evry1nositswindy that sellers may have policies that prevent cancellation after processing begins, even if the item hasn't shipped, and advised to be sure of purchases in the future. lespul-20 thanked evry1nositswindy for the explanation.
I originally placed an order with this seller, but they unexpectedly canceled it.
“Unfortunately, the seller had to cancel your order due to the following reason: Something was wrong with the buyer's shipping address.”
Because of that experience, I no longer wanted to purchase from them. I reordered before deciding I no longer wanted the items and submitted a cancellation request almost immediately after placing the new orders.
I requested cancellation the same day I placed my orders, and the seller didn’t respond until 4 business days later. During that time, the orders remained unshipped. They are now saying it’s “too late” to cancel, even though the items still haven’t shipped.
“We couldn't cancel your order because it's too late to cancel. You should receive your order by Jul 20, 2026. You may contact the seller to return it once you receive it.”
I genuinely don’t understand why a seller would refuse to cancel an order that hasn’t shipped yet. Is there a reason some sellers do this? I am going to end up returning the items anyway.

Mentor3 weeks agoBuyers can only request a cancellation. Seller do not have to agree to it and some cannot. Some sellers have a warehouse where orders are processed and a cancellation is impossible. Honestly, you have no idea if the item was shipped or not. Not all sellers ship with tracking and some don't post tracking immediately. I'm sorry, but you will need to return the item. Just be 100% sure next time you purchase something.

Mentor3 weeks agoNo problem. There is already a built-in time period that the seller doesn't get notification of a sale in case a cancellation request is made. I think it's 15 minutes (not sure, as it is new). Trust me, cancellations cost sellers money so they would cancel if they could. I just answered a question from a seller who purchased the label and then got a cancellation request. It is not an easy thing to go through.
