Seller refusing cancelation before item being shipped - shipment terms changed
I purchased a UAS from a seller located in China. He/She sent me notice after the sale that terms of the shipping have been changed due to export compliance, shipping the item would be considered "smuggling"!? This is a consumer drone that can be purchased in the US albeit at a higher cost. The message the seller sent to me was " Thank you for your purchase.
Recently, the United States has imposed economic constraints on China. Restricting the import and export of cross-border business supplies from China. China has introduced new cross-border export trade policies. This item belongs to e-commerce products. If sent directly to your country. Belonging to smuggling. The item will be detained by customs. In order for you to receive the product normally. Reduce customs duties. We need to send the certificate of conformity and export license of the goods to the National Security Bureau for approval in advance. The approval process takes approximately 7-10 days. After approval is completed. The goods will be shipped by sea. The transportation time is approximately 10-12 days. If you cannot wait. Please let me know and I will immediately provide you with a full refund. The order is automatically cancelled. A pleasant cooperation." I specifically requested cancellation after receiving that message, now the seller has refused and despite my continued refusal has now seemingly shipped it a few days later. I can't get a hold of anyone at eBay, their only option is an AI chat that generates not so intelligent automated responses that are of no help whatsoever. Any suggestions on what to do about this, or how to get a hold or a real person at eBay?
