Seller Protection policy - does it always protect the seller.
We offer free postage, and an International buyer left neutral feedback citing the high costs of postage. I requested eBay removed this feedback as per their policy that states :
What if something happens that is outside of my control?
We will protect you by removing negative and neutral feedback and defects when things happen that are outside your control.
The Global Shipping charges are completely outside my control, and this was the only comment that accompanied the Neutral feedback, however eBay refused to remove it which surprised me as I expected them to follow there own policy. This really puts me off selling internationally, which is a shame but I cannot risk this sort of problem happening again. The end of this story did have a better ending as I then explained to the buyer about the postal charges and they agreed to change the neutral feedback. However, it made me realise that I cannot rely on eBay to adhere to there own policy, which is a shame as I hoped Seller Protection would have protected the seller!
