Seller passed away
A friend of mine who just started selling on here passed away a little over a year ago. They had an auction at his home and I purchased some of his things. Some of those items were purchased with the intent of selling them on eBay and are extremely rare. When I went to list one of the items I discovered that he had listed it and it has been renewing every month since his death. He had a very high price in it so I'm assuming that's why it hasn't been purchased. It's so rare that it's going to be obvious Im selling the exact same one and I don't want anyone to be thinking there is a scam going on. It was the only item he listed on here and he had zero sales. There shouldn't have been any activity in his account for at least a year, year and a half. What should I do or can I do anything? How long does this thing keep being relisted? Through all eternity?

A family member of your deceased friend needs to close his eBay account ... or at least end the listing for that item. Do you know if anyone knows the password of that account to do that?

OP3 years agoNo I talked to his sister and they knew he was talking about doing it, but he hadn't mention that he'd actually done anything yet. I asked if they would have any clue about a password so they could get on here and delete it, but they don't have a clue.

Someone in his family needs to close the account providing they have the login information. As long as eBay allows the account to be open the item will Relist the same day each month until the listings is ended or the account closed. I would suspect since it has been over a year the family has not done anything and may not have access to the account. If it were me I would message the account asking a general question .just to see what happens.
If you list the item for a fair price (assuming much lower then the current listing) and it sells then ship it.
