Seller Not Within the U.S. - Using GoFo Drop Shipping from Oversease
Summary: renetrap-0 purchased a laptop battery from an eBay seller claiming to be located in the U.S., but tracking information showed the item was shipped from China via GoFo Logistics. renetrap-0 questioned the seller's location, suspecting them of violating eBay’s policy by falsely advertising their location, which could lead to extra charges for buyers. jacbarcollectibles noted that sellers may not be violating the policy if their stock is in the U.S. despite being overseas. They advised checking feedback and delivery dates to verify seller authenticity and location claims.
I purchased a laptop battery from an eBay seller who claims to be located within the United States. When I received tracking information, it is through a drop ship international carrier called GoFo Logistics, and the seller information on the the delivery data shows China. I went back and forth via messaging with the seller to verify where they are actually located. They insist they're located in 'Ohio' but every indication shows this item is coming from China. Isn't a seller falsely advertising their location a violation of eBay policy? I've been doing research on this GoFo Logistics and, based on research, this appears to be a carrier that is utilized by overseas entities.

Mentor2 weeks agoThis is a little complex. GOFO is a USA company that provides last mile delivery and is used by e-commerce companies to make deliveries. So although a seller may actually be located outside of the USA their stock can be located within the USA and be delivered by this company.
So an International seller may not be violating eBay rules if their stock is actually located in the USA and not being shipped from abroad. The seller would be violating eBay policy if they claim to be located in the USA but your shipment comes from outside of the USA. Always check bot the sellers feedback and their estimated delivery date to see what may be going on. Feedback from other buyers will tell you if they are not what they seem. A long delivery time can indicate they are shipping from outside of the USA.

Mentor2 weeks agoHard to say really. In the last 12 months they have received over 3,000 seller feedback with only nine negative feedbacks. Only one or two mentioned being in China and having any problems. The other negatives are just those that large sellers can receive over the course of time. Most large sellers will get some negatives over time but this does not mean they are fraudlent.

OP2 weeks agoThen they should be honest regarding their location. It's misleading to customers and could possibly result in paying additional charges for an imported item that was advertised as being shipped within the United States. It's bad business practice and potentially violates eBay policy as customers who do due diligence on checking the seller's location and reviews are still being deceived. Any Google research on GoFo indicator this is an overseas carrier and that the seller's claiming to be in the United States is a common practice that has resulted in inaccurate shipping information and lost deliveries.
