Seller not being honest
I was bidding on an item and my bid of $29.96 stood for 3 days. In the last second I was out bid by exactly $1 dollar and the item was "SOLD". Ok no big deal. Really wanted the item but i have lost lots of auctions in the past. My issue is that the same item has been relisted with a "buy it now" price of $50. How is this allowed. I thought if the winning bidder couldn't pay then the item goes to the next highest bidder. So what's the policy on that? I feel like the seller wasn't happy with my current high bid amount at the end of the auction so he had a bid placed for $1 dollar more then my high bid. That way he could relist the item for $50. Any help would be great.

·3 years agoNo. It doesn't "go the next highest bidder." The seller can choose to make a Second Chance Offer to any losing bidder who has not opted out of receiving offers but it is up to him/her to do or not do that. S/he can do with the item what s/he wishes once any obligations to the winner have been settled.
Your conclusion that the seller is "dishonest" has no evidential support. You have no way of knowing what went on between the seller and the winner.
The item sold for $30.96 because your bid was the underbid at $29.96 and the bid increment at that point is $1.00. You have no idea how much the winner actually bid.
