Seller Never Shipped the Package and Then Called Me Stupid When I Asked for a Refund
Is everyone in the ebay community okay with sellers failing to ship packages and then using abusive language when buyers reach out to ask for a resolution? This is not okay! I am done with ebay!

OP6 months agoYour authoritarian responses are not helpful at all and indicative of the nefarious business practices eBay has. While you may be making truthful statements about the way eBay operates, I contacted eBay before taking any actions and the foreign customer service reps were not helpful--and in fact argumentative--as you are being. Therefore, I had no choice but to contact my bank. Neither rep told me not to involve my bank. One of them told me there was nothing that could be done. How would you feel is you purchased an item, the seller printed the label and never brought it to the post office, you patiently waited, contacted the seller to ask for an ETA, got cursed at, and then reported it to eBay only to be dismissed? Shame on you and your terrible, authoritarian advice. eBay is a haven for criminal sellers (and some bad buyers). Folks like me who buy things and sell in good faith are not welcome and we know it. It's not profitable for eBay to support us. They make more off high-volume criminal sellers.

Did you file an "item not received" case with eBay within thirty days of the last estimated delivery date shown at the time of your purchase? If the seller does not provide tracking that shows delivery within three business days or else refund you, at that point you should be able to ask eBay to step in and force a refund.
Report the seller's message to eBay and get your refund. Then add that seller to your Blocked Buyer List so you do not need to see any more messages from that user.

OP6 months agoThank you for your reply. I did file an "item not received" case with eBay and spoke with a rep, too. What bothers me is that the seller never shipped the item in the window of time that they should have. Then they lashed out at me for asking for an ETA. Now eBay is stating that I have to wait for a refund so they can investigate. So I called my bank and opened a dispute. It's clear the seller dropped the ball and then got nasty so I am not sure why eBay needs time to "investigate." It's a shame that time and again eBay allows this and responsible people have no choice but to leave the platform. I have been burned as both a seller and buyer. I always follow the rules and watch as those who don't are rewarded. Brick and mortar for me from now on.

Mentor6 months agoOnce you involve your bank, eBay cannot help. You could have asked eBay to step in and force a refund, but now that is not an option.

OP6 months agoI tried to thumbs-down your reply and instead gave it two thumbs up. I disagree with your response and eBay's policies. My bank will get my full refund and eBay can pay the chargeback fees. For the record, I did ask eBay to step in and then the seller (who ignored my prior communication asking for an item ETA) flipped out on me and cursed me out. And eBay is totally fine with me getting ripped off and suffering abuse on top of it. Therefore, I don't need eBay's "options". They are a greedy, California-based tech company that condones and enables wrongdoing in our society. Bad actors (sellers and buyers) should be immediately reprimanded and removed from the platform and those suffering monetary loss should be made whole ASAP, end of story. Sadly, that's not a profitable business for eBay. Shame on them and you!

Only one of those is yours; the other is from another user. If you click on the thumbs up one more time, you can undo your rating and the number will go down one.
I disagree with your response and eBay's policies.
My response is a statement of how eBay works, whether you agree with it or not. You are free to disagree with how eBay runs its business, but that will not change my response.
I did ask eBay to step in and then the seller (who ignored my prior communication asking for an item ETA) flipped out on me and cursed me out.
If you had used eBay's process and had eBay step in, eBay would have refunded you, regardless of what message your seller sent you. The process is automatic and does not require the cooperation or assent of the seller. You can block users from sending messages if you report them to eBay, but eBay cannot stop every possible nasty message before it can be sent until that actually happens.
eBay has a money back guarantee for items that are not shipped -- or that are shipped but that the seller cannot show have been delivered with tracking -- and if you had followed that process through to the end you would have been refunded eBay.

If it is any consolation, the Seller actually has to pay an additional $ 20 if eBay loses the dispute with your bank. There are around 17.2 million Selling accounts on eBay worldwide, many of them are good Sellers but to your point, it only takes one to ruin a Buyer's experience and with every Buyer that decides to abandon eBay they influence other people in their circles about their negative experience and ultimately all of the good Seller suffer.
If you follow through with departure here is a link to closing your eBay account, it takes time and is not instantaneous: Closing your account | eBay

OP6 months agoThank you, Mr. Lincoln. Sadly, eBay doesn't care that after 25+ years that I am closing my account. I have 100% positive feedback as a buyer and seller. I ship items out same day and package them impeccably. I had one issue with a buyer stating an item was damaged (which was suspicious) yet I immediately refunded them at a lost of $150+ to me. Greedy, California-based "tech" companies don't care about right/wrong. They only care about $$$/profits. Interesting that they are all based in San Francisco. Bad sellers (and buyers) should be punished, forced to pay penalties, and then kicked off the platform but eBay doesn't support those actions. Instead they'd rather lose people like me. It's a numbers game and nothing more. eBay loves all the thieves selling stolen merchandise. I also blame lazy, greedy U.S. citizens for letting it happen. It's all destroying this country. Good luck to everyone on eBay and in life.
