Seller messages me that the account has been compromised report to card holder or PayPal is this legitimate

Question

Got message from seller account was compromised also said this is a scam .telling me to report and ask for refund. But it looks like Iwas refunded a penny not the sum paid please advise

I would be very careful here. If the seller is telling you their account was compromised, do not click any links in the message, send additional payment information, or move the problem outside eBay.

First, go directly to your Purchase History and open the order:

https://www.ebay.com/mye/myebay/purchase

Check what eBay itself shows for the order: Paid, Shipped, Canceled, or Refunded. Also check the refund amount there. If you only see a $0.01 refund, that is not the same as receiving back the full amount you paid.

If the order was canceled but the full refund has not arrived, contact eBay through the order and ask them to review it. If the seller never ships and the estimated delivery date passes, open an Item Not Received request through eBay rather than relying on the seller’s instructions. Here.

Keep all communication inside eBay Messages. If you can, tell us what the order status currently says and whether the one-cent refund appears in the eBay order details or only on your card/PayPal account.
