Seller lists an item as an unlocked phone, but it is not
I bought from a seller that lists an unlocked phone and then proceeds to send a Verizon branded phone and it includes a note how to unlock it and not to leave a negative review if you have difficulty. He has had numerous reviews calling him out his false advertising and eBay has done nothing to stop this false advertising. After several unsuccessful attempts to unlock the phone from Verizon, I am sending it back.
Why is eBay looking the other way and not stopping this false advertising?

OP1 year agoThank you all for the help. I have had this eBay account for at least 24 plus years and have never had issue with a seller until now. I went a ahead and reported the seller, started the return process and left a very detailed review.
I am disappointed that detailed review I wrote several days ago has not been posted and also that eBay does not telephone support like Amazon does.
I want to prevent the next person from being deceived from the seller and having to face the same rigamarole that I have.

eBay doesn't have an incoming phone line for either buyers or sellers. But you can have eBay call YOU, here

It's better however to complete the report forms online, and then if you wish, follow up with a call.

Did you open a Return Request for Item Not As Described?
eBay keeps track of this metric.
If you just chatted with the seller about Returning the item, open a case.
You can open your return request here. Just click the photo and follow the instructions.

eBay relies on metrics - Return Cases, Item Not Received Cases and so on to measure a seller's success.

OP1 year agoThank you. I just wish eBay would be proactive on this. I will passing on shopping on eBay from now on.

OP1 year agoI think they should have a direct way to report problematic sellers who are clearly falsely advertising a product. Amazon does, I think eBay can too.

1) You can easily report a seller by filing a Return Case for Item Not As Described Return. This makes a big difference. Sellers can't get many of these and stay in business. This is the number 1 metric eBay tracks to find bad sellers.

Choose " The seller has violated one of eBay's policies"
Choose "Other"
Explain that the item doesn't match and it seems common with this seller.

OP1 year agoThank you. I had filed a return request with eBay, but I am going to follow up with report a seller. I want to stop the seller from repeating this false advertising with other buyers.
