Seller issue: Having problems troubleshooting an item after installation, not functioning properly
THIS IS A BRAND NEW ITEM THAT HAS NEVER BEEN USED. Contacted seller before purchase and gave him my vehicle info and confirmed fitment. Item installation is very user friendly and well thought out. Followed instructions as described making proper connections where suggested and using all supplied components. Most functions of the item are working properly except for one. I have spent two weeks sending numerous images of the installation to the seller asking for help as well as searching through the sellers online forum/website. I've sent photos of every connection as asked by the seller and still have no suggestions about my issue other than "it tested as working when it left".
I have tested every connection for proper ground, 12v constant and switched, all appropriate connections as well as continuity as far as I can check with a meter and a Power Probe tool.
I connected an old item I had in my toolbox to the wiring of the new item and I get the function that I am missing.
The seller has his own website/forum available which he keeps trying to communicate with me through but I feel better using messenger in eBay for complete documentation, especially since, at this point, I'm not getting much help.
I understand seller doesn't know my level of technical skill, but I have given him any and all information he's asked for and more in order to confirm proper installation and I still have no resolve. My vehicle has been apart for over two weeks waiting on a suggestion/solution or resolve.
Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Mentor1 year agoDid you try contacting the manufacturer or running any self test available. Otherwise it sounds like either you item doesn't have the function or is defective, if that's the case Open a Return Request for an ITEM NOT AS DESCRIBED, defective. Do this NOW before the time limit runs out. Seller will pay for the return, if he wants it back, and/or refund. If no response by the fourth day, go back and ask ebay to step in. Do not close or let the case expire without doing this, if not resolved.

OP1 year agoYes, I believe the seller is the "manufacturer" as this is a complete kit. He does have a pretty comprehensive website with instructions and troubleshooting guide which I've scrolled through numerous times and have exhausted everything on my end when it comes to troubleshooting. With this kit, the camera is not showing and image on screen for me whoever everything else is working properly and when I use an old camera from my toolbox utilizing the kits wiring, I can produce and image. I believe I have a faulty camera but the seller keeps telling me that it was "tested good working before it was shipped". I think ill end up having to move forward with getting eBay involved. My only issue with this is that I recently had another issue with a different seller where I received the wrong product and it was not as pictured or described on the listing. all went well with eBay involvement but I feel that it looks bad on my end to have multiple issues so close together, but it is what it is at this point. I ordered 7 items for my sons car all from different sellers and only 2 items worked as described.

Mentor1 year agoWhat was the Item Number?
Cameras and camera apps can be tricky. Did the app come with the camera or is it suppose to be compatible with an existing general purpose app?
Regardless, if it isn't working a Return Request will get more attention from the seller. You might have the seller call you to better troubleshoot. Otherwise, don't miss the return deadline for getting a refund and don't close the case until you have it all working.
