"seller isn't accepting offers/ bids from you" message

Question

I tried to buy an item with buy it now, and I got this message " seller isn't accepting offers/bids from you". What the??....

I did write the seller to clarify, since it didn't mention damage etc. I asked if indeed it had no chips, stains.

They didn't respond.

That doesn't seem like reason enough to block me from buying, does it? Can a seller just block anyone from buying, for any reason, or no reason? How does that make sense?

Sellers have very few protections from buyers, but one of them is that the seller can block any buyer for any reason. Once blocked, the seller will not see messages from that user and the user will not be able to bid or buy from that seller.

Some sellers that have been victimized before may tend to be quick to block any potential buyer that seems likely to be trouble for the seller.

Find another seller that wants to do business with you.
