Seller ethics
Summary: cynthischrant0 is interested in a piece of jewelry and contacted the seller about whether the stones are lab-created or earth-mined. The seller explained that the piece must go to a gemological institute to verify this, and if confirmed as natural, the item would be sold at a higher price, otherwise, the buyer would receive it as synthetic. comics-scifi-collectibles requested the listing details for more context, while momtoabeautifuldaughter confirmed the listing mentions synthetic stones. mr_lincoln clarified that 'synthetic' and 'lab-created' mean the same in the gem industry.
I am interested in a piece of jewelry. I messaged the seller asking if the stones are lab-created or earth-mined.
This is the reply:
From seller
"Oh, I forgot to mention - not only was ALL the above info mentioned in the listing, but because the bracelet has to go to GIA first, they will only determine if what I describe is true. If synthetic, the item would be forwarded to buyer with assurance that the piece is as I described BUT if the sapphires are genuine, natural mined, then the bracelet would come back to me, buyer would get a refund, and then I could list the bracelet for a higher price as GIA would have authenticated the stones as natural mined." Again, hope this helps
Can a seller take this action after accepting payment for an item?

Mentor1 month ago@cynthischrant0 I doubt that the Authentication center will return the bracelet to the seller if they find the gems to be authentic, rather odd thing for the seller to say.
I agree with @mr_lincoln "In the gem and jewelry industry, “synthetic” and “lab-created” gemstones are essentially the same thing — both refer to gemstones grown in a laboratory that have the same physical, chemical, and optical properties as their natural counterparts."
I would doubt the Titanic history reference unless they have documentation proving the Provenance
