Seller disputed legitimate feedback on defective item - ebay removed it
Summary: nikp90 expressed frustration over a seller disputing feedback about a misrepresented item, which led to its removal by eBay without notification. The seller had left false feedback on nikp90's profile. mr_lincoln advised on using eBay's Money Back Guarantee to return items that don't match descriptions, but nikp90 noted that the return period had passed and felt the system was unfair. nikp90 highlighted the difficulty in trusting eBay when feedback can be removed without explanation.
Hi, I left feedback for a user who highly misrepresented the item's condition that they sold me. I had initially reached out to the seller in an attempt to resolve it, they told me "it's a used item, you got a deal" - and I left feedback showing the defects as proof, and mentioned that they we're unwilling to work with me.
The seller disputed the feedback, had it removed somehow - then left a false positive review on my profile saying that I'm trying to manipulate the system. I have diagnostics to prove my claim, messages for ebay to see our communication (which further contains the proof) - but somehow ebay removed it. I checked to see if I had an email or notification from ebay asking for me to revise it, but nothing was ever received.
This ultimately RUINS my trust of sellers with high feedback values... if ebay will unconditionally remove negative feedback - what is the point of this system? How can I find out WHY it was removed, and/or get in contact with ebay to get it added back? People will continue to get scammed by this seller until others are warned.

Without seeing the Feedback you left we will be hard pressed to determine if in some way it violated one of eBay's Feedback policies ... there are SEVEN (7) Help pages on eBay's Feedback system.
The good news however is regardless of the Seller's Feedback policy you are protected by the eBay Money Back Guarantee for 30 days from receipt. When an item does not match pictures or descriptions you are protected and can return it on the Seller's dime for a refund. Here is what we share in that regard:
You are protected by the eBay Money Back Guarantee for 30 days from the date of receipt: eBay Money Back Guarantee policy
Go to the item in your Purchase history and file a RETURN using the reason "Does not match pictures or description". eBay will issue you a pre-paid return shipping label regardless of the Seller's return policy. You return the item and the Seller will have 2 days to refund you. Failing that you go back to the claim and ask eBay to step in and force the refund.
You can report a Seller here: Online Customer Service - Report an issue with a seller

OP3 weeks agoI believe the 30 days has already passed, I saw 'Returns not accepted' and assumed that meant this situation wouldn't be covered. It seems like an automated system removed this on the basis that I didn't get a notification of the feedback dispute, which is very disappointing.
An automated system removing my feedback without telling me why goes unchecked. If I don't know what's causing that decision, myself and other Ebay buyers would leave this type of content in their write-ups and it get's removed.. the system just seems rigged. This absolutely makes it harder to trust ebay going forward. Thank you for your reply though.

You are more than welcome ... if you cannot file a return or claim thtrough eBay you may be forced to file a dispute with your funding source to get your money back. I am really sorry this happened to you!
