seller declined return
I purchased an item from a seller. The item listing did not state return not accepted. However, when I attempted to return the item because I did not like it the seller declined. It says the return is closed and decision is final. What the hell? That is one shady seller that knows how to game the eBay.

The seller did nothing wrong.
The reason "Didn't like" is not covered by Ebay's Money Back guarantee, so the seller was able to choose to not approve the return request.

OP2 years ago1. Money back guarantee means nothing if eBay doesn't stand behind it.
2. I did not like the item because it was listed as a like new condition. But what I received was not in a new condition. Picture was provided.
3. Seller was able to bypass the dispute mechanism without buyer having a say

Ebay DOES stand behind their Money Back Guarantee IF the reason for the return is covered by the MBG. Buyer's remorse is not covered.

Then you needed to choose the reason "doesn't match description" instead of "didn't like it". Also "like new" doesn't mean "in new condition"
3. Seller was able to bypass the dispute mechanism without buyer having a say
The seller did not bypass anything. They had the right to decline the Return Request, no further correspondence from the buyer is necessary.

OP2 years ago1. The buyer should have stated No Returns. Then I would not purchased an item from him
2. Costco, Best Buy, Amazon will let you return items you do not like. It is very shady that the seller uses loopholes to not take their product back. It is disappointing that eBay is defending the seller. This behavior is fit for a marketplace in a third world country not USA. If buyer does not want to take back their product then it should say No Returns. Ebay is complicit in hiding loop holes in their money back guarantee that is not normal in the market place so the buyer does not have to state they do not accept returns.
3. The dispute mechanism was closed without any input from the buyer once the seller declined. That is shady. I have no way of changing the return reason. So I am wasting my time on a public forum because eBay customer support is hiding.

Since you left negative feedback, I was able to find the item. Clearly says the seller does not accept returns.

OP2 years agoI am willing to revise my feedback to remove the negative because he stated no returns.
I have same book in good condition from another eBay seller and a new one from Amazon. This book has pages that are brownish yellow. It has not been stored properly. I would like to change the return reason. How do I do that?
The return has been closed without any input from buyer How do I get hold of eBay customer support?

Once the Ebay return request has been closed/cancelled, it cannot be reopened nor is it possible to file a new return request.

OP2 years agoEscalate this to eBay customer support. It is unacceptable that I am stuck with the crap product because of games eBay is playing.

This should not have been closed because customer support never investigated the issue.
I was sold a book that is claimed to be in a New Condition. Its pages are brown yellow. Worst than any other book I have received on ebay. Your money back guarantee would have covered it. Who ever closed the issue erred. Issue is not resolved.
