Seller cancels order and re-lists item for sale
How to a complain about a seller or have them honor a sale. I won a recent bid auction. As I was going to cart to pay (within an hour) the seller canceled the order claiming lost or damaged. They then re-listed the item for sale again. If they didn't get the price they wanted it's not my fault they didn't have a reserve on it. It's seems very unfair that sellers wouldn't ha e to honor a won auction and can just cancel. It doesn't even give me the option to write a review since the transaction was canceled before payment. This is really bad practice. What can I do..does the buyer have any rights here?

·2 years agoThe seller already got a "defect" when s/he cancelled the transaction (at least s/he didn't lie to blame you to avoid the defect like too many do). That is the primary tool eBay uses to weed out bad sellers, downgrading the selling status of those who get too many relative to their sales volume (as opposed to having to pay employees to actually investigate to see how likely it was that the seller had a legitimate reason to cancel vs. deliberate policy violations).
You may leave appropriate (calm, factual, with time ended, cancelled, and relisted; don't post your conclusions, give the facts so the next prospective buyer can draw his/her conclusions) feedback to warn future buyers/bidders. If the usual links have vanished, go to anyone's Feedback Profile (doesn't matter who, click on the feedback score in parentheses behind the username) then scroll down to below the last comment on that page to find a "Leave feedback" link that doesn't vanish (it brings you to a list of items you can leave feedback for).
Theoretically you could sue the seller for breach of the contract of sale (for the difference between the auction price and what you ended up having to pay for a replacement), but that is almost never practical.

eBay cannot force the seller to ship the item, but I guess the good news is that he earned a defect on his seller record for cancelling the order. Too many of those and he won't be selling for long.
You can report the seller for cancelling the order and then relisting at a higher price here:
