Seller cancelled my purchase
I bid on an item and won the auction. Before I paid I was questioning the shipping amount and asked if it could be lowered. I was in no hurry for it so it could ship a different way. The seller was talking about a 2.50 difference but had to find a plain box to ship it in?? I explained what I know about USPS pack and ship boxes and stated what the shipping charges should be. And the seller told me I was relieved of my obligation.
I never said I would not pay it but was hoping to get it down some. Trying to be helpful with a suggestion. I have tried 2 more times to communicate with the seller with mo response.
I saw that the seller cancelled because there was an issue with my address which is a lie. I get purchases from eBay all the time. I won the auction for the item and I deserve to buy it.

You deserve to buy it for the pricing the seller had on the listing to which you agreed when you placed your bid. It's too late to negotiate after you commit to buy.
The seller is charging you for shipping and handling, not postage. Sellers list the shipping options they are able to offer. If you want something shipped a different way, that may mean that the seller has to buy different packaging (the cost of which needs to be added into what you will pay. Only Priority Mail and Priority Express include boxes for shipping via those methods only. Ground Advantage means the seller has to obtain his own packaging. A seller must ship within his handling time and he may not be able to do that if he has to go out and purchase special packaging.
Here's the bottom line. If you don't agree with the cost the seller is showing on the listing, then it's best to just move on and find another seller.

OP2 years agoI agree and understand about paying what was posted. I was simply asking if there was a less expensive option. I was willing to pay what was listed. My issue is because I questioned it the seller chose to cancel instead of discussing an option or simply saying “not an option. “
Your reply is very helpful and the explanation clears up the reason for high shipping fees.
thank you for your time and reply.
