Seller cancelled but cancellation says buyer requested
Paid for purchase, seller messaged saying he was cancelling the transaction bc the item was supposedly damaged. A couple of hours later, the transaction was still showing as active, so messaged the seller to inform. Seller said he would look into it; a couple minutes later, status changed to “Cancellation requested,†saying *I* as the buyer requested the transaction be cancelled, when I had done no such thing. Will my account be dinged for this? If so, how do I get it changed? Thanks.

You won't be able to get it changed though you can repurchase the item.
You can also report the seller here:
https://www.ebay.com/help/action?topicid=4022
1. Select The seller has violated one of eBay’s policies and click Continue.
2. On the next page, enter the seller's ID and select Other.
3. In the comment section, write something similar to "In order to avoid a defect, seller cancelled order stating that I requested the cancellation which I did not."
