seller canceled auction with several bids
Seller canceled auction without any reason listed with no reserve and I was high bidder. The seller has five of the item for sale. The seller didn't state the reason for cancelation. Was he not happy that it was going to sell for to low of a price. He should have put a reserve on the item if he wanted to get more money for the item.
Does ebay support this type of action by sellers?
View the listing and look at the bids placed. Then look at hos items list and see that he has 5 more listed with fixed price exact same item just different item number eBay item number:388102765889

I'm sorry this happened to you. It has to be very frustrating. The seller doesn't have to give you or even Ebay a reason other than they want to cancel the transaction. It could be they weren't getting the money they thought they would for the item like you think. Or it could be some type of personal emergency that would cause them to be unavailable to complete the transaction when it closed out. Or something else. But the seller doesn't owe you the reason. I know that doesn't help your frustration at all.
However, sellers are financially penalized by Ebay for doing this. Ebay will charge the seller the selling fees on the amount of the highest bidder. Ebay doesn't like it when sellers do this to buyers, so the seller gets penalized. Now if this was their first time doing this, they may be able to plead their case to Ebay and get the fees back.

OP1 year agoSo what you are telling me is for ebay any excuse is a good excuse. So if a seller isn't happy because they are not getting enough for the item, that they are allowed to cancel the auction. If the seller wasn't willing to accept any amount for their item they can cancel the auction and not just put a reserve on the item when listing the item. Unethical seller at it's finest.

You are assuming that the price is why the seller closed the auction. That may or may not be accurate. You don't know what the seller was willing to accept unless you had a conversation with them and this was discussed.
Again, you are assuming this is an "unethical seller".
As I previously stated, I really respect your frustration. I'd be frustrated if it happened to me too. The seller will be penalized for this action as I explained in my other post. So it isn't something they will repeat very often as it will significantly affect the health of their selling account.
