Seller cancel my order because the freight was more than they quoted

Question

I believe the seller should be obligated to honor a purchase even if it was their mistake. I did a "buy it now" on a listing that also listed and included the freight charge, which I accepted for the total purchase. The buyer canceled my order with refund because when they went to ship the item it was more than they quoted.

If sellers can cancel any order because of their mistakes, (or maybe they thought they should of got more than the bid for their auction), why use eBay anymore ? Thank you

Thanks disneyshopper for your answer so I checked with the eBay reason of the refund;

"Unfortunately, the seller had to cancel your order due to the following reason: I'm out of stock or the item is damaged."

But here is the message the seller sent to me for the reason;

"Hi there! I saw that you have purchased this xxxxxxx. I went to the USPS office today to mail it, however the dimension that I put on the posting is way off than the actual dimensions and caused the shipping cost to be a lot more. Unfortunately, I would have to cancel this order due to this.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Thank you!"

So apparently this seller knows how to get out an auction sale by using the "right" eBay language.

I asked them to re-list it with the right shipping and I would buy it;

"Hi there! unfortunately, I won’t be selling this item online. Thank you for checking in."

So anyway, I guess they got away with it, and they got (5) pages of items for sale now so they aren't "rookie" eBay sellers. Still would like to report them for some reason so they can't do the same to other buyers.

If the seller did not state Out of Stock as the reason for the cancellation, you can report the seller.

1. Select The seller has violated one of eBay s policies and click Continue.
2. On the next page, enter the seller's ID and select Other.
3. In the comment section, write "Seller cancelled order stating that item cost more to ship than was quoted."

Too many defects, and sellers can be restricted or suspended.
