Seller asking to me to pay twice for item
So the seller claims at the US Postal Service lost or misplaced my item. He is willing to give a refund however today he said that he found a part that is an exact match to what I ordered but wants to charge me for the new part and shipping and not replace the one lost by the mail. So in short asking me to pay twice. Is this acceptable?

Mentor3 years agoAre you certain that is what the seller is asking?
Is it possible that the seller has already refunded you (whether or not you have actually received the refund yet) and the seller is asking if you want to purchase the other item as a separate transaction?
Otherwise it would not make much sense to offer the replacement and ask for a payment without a refund.

OP3 years agoThe seller has not refunded me yet. He has another part that could replace the lost one but wants me to pay for the part and shipping or take the refund if they cant find the part at the post office. He doesn't want to eat the cost of the post office losing the item. Its not that expensive of item. Its only $10 part. So its not like the seller is eating a huge loss.

Mentor3 years agoI would not enter into a new transaction with the seller until I was sure I had been refunded for the original transaction.
The seller may not want to "eat the cost" but the seller is responsible for providing what was advertised or else refunding the buyer. If the seller purchased shipping insurance, the seller can pursue that with the shipper after refunding the buyer.

Mentor3 years agoNo it's not acceptable.
When it's past the estimated delivery date shown in your Purchase History, use the option next to the transaction to open a case for an item not received. The seller will have 3 business days to prove delivery or refund. If he doesn't, go back to the case on day 4 and use the option to ask eBay to step in. They will force the refund.
