Seller Asking for Pictures of Shipping Label

Question

I purchased an item with a solar panel included. The item appears to be functional, but the solar panel is broken. The seller is willing to send me a whole new item but wants pictures of the shipping labels on the box. (I have already sent pictures of the broken panel.) They say they need it to file a claim with the transport company.

I can tell I am dealing with someone from another country.

I am just a little bit concerned as I assume they would have all this information already. They are corresponding through eBay on everything.

Is it safe to share the pictures of the shipping labels to my home address?

If so, should I black out my address, phone number, or anything else?

Just somewhat new to eBay and wanting to be fair but cautious.

@hc3006 < seller is willing to send me a whole new item but wants pictures of the shipping labels > You don't have to wait until the seller resolves an insurance claim. The seller is supposed to take care of his buyer first, and then the insurance is his problem. If the carrier drags out the process, it's possible that the outcome could take beyond your 30-day window to open a claim. If that happens, the seller could just ignore you after that. By the way, I never have and never will opt for the replacement option . . . what if the replacement turns out to be just as bad as the original. If you haven't opened a Not As Described claim, I recommend you do so before your 30-day window expires. If the seller has intention to refund you anyway, no harm done. But if the seller strings you along past your 30-day, you could end up holding the bag. Good luck.

In order for the seller to file an insurance claim, s/he will need photos of the shipping label, outer packaging, inner packaging, damaged item.
