Seller asked me to cancel an auction bought item
Hopefully someone can help me.
A seller just contacted me about an item I won the bid on, and told me that when he tested the item right before shipping it to me. It ended up actually being broken, and then asked me to cancel the order. How do I go about doing that?

-Buyers cannot cancel a transaction, they can only request it. If the Seller is new they may not realize this. Message them back and tell them to use the drop down menu on the left of that item and select Cancel. They can do it from their end.
-If you paid but they ghost you or never ship then wait one day past the original estimated delivery date to file a claim that you did not receive your item. It will lead to a refund for you. Here is what we share with Buyers in that instance:
The date you want to keep an eye on is the original estimated delivery date. One day past that is when you can process a claim.
You are protected by the eBay Money Back Guarantee for 30 days from the latest estimated delivery date: eBay Money Back Guarantee policy
You can file a claim via the item in your Purchase History that you did not receive your item one day past the original estimated delivery date and up to 30 days after that. Follow the steps in the claim and they will lead to an eventual refund.

The official "Request to cancel" through eBay requires the Seller to respond to it. If you just message them asking them to Cancel they can do it right away as described above. They can then select the cancellation reason "Buyer requested" which avoids a strike on their account. Your account is NOT affected by asking them to cancel the transaction. I have Cancelled transactions on more than one occasion when my customers ask me to. You can use any or all of that post I made above letting them know HOW to do it on their account. Some Sellers KNOW that Buyers cannot cancel and they try to string them out past the Estimated delivery day and beyond to try and keep their money. Does that Seller have a high Feedback count?
