I do not agree with the way that this is being offered to me since I am usually trying to snipe the bid at the last moment and I bid much higher to "ensure" that I win a bid only to have some one else out snipe me . then when they do NOT follow through on their higher bid . the seller asks me if I want to pay for my already high bid... I would prefer that they go back to the person who posted the third most recent or was the highest bid prior to my sniping the bid and use my snipe bid to win the item completely over looking the person who had sniped me and now has backed out.......only to be out bid by some one who then does not follow through.. I think this is a fairer representation of how to resolve their backing done... because how can one know what the intent was of the last sniper? They may have been a shill bidder trying to drive the price up further.
any input on this situation would really be helpful.

What you're doing is called a Nuclear Bid, i.e., a ridiculously too high bid intended to outbid everybody. As you've now learned, the fun starts when two bidders have the same idea. You are not required to accept the SCO.
