searching by category, too many cards !!!
Summary: babyboom_toys expressed frustration about finding toy fire engines amidst a large number of collectible card game listings in the Toys and Hobbies category. They suggested creating a separate category for collectible cards to simplify searches. eastlaneave recommended providing feedback through a platform feature and shared a search strategy using exclusion terms. eburtonlab suggested narrowing the search to specific subcategories and provided various links to targeted searches for better results.
I am interested in toy fire engines, trucks, pumpers, etc. I usually search in toys and hobbies under "fire". Lately, there are so many "collectible game cards" that come up in the search, that I have to scroll through pages of card listings to even find any toys.
For example: if I search in Toys and Hobbies with "fire", i get over 1,400,000 items. But Collectible Card Game items account for 1,300,000 of those items. To find the remaining 100,000 items listed, I have to scroll through 1,400,000 listings that include cards.
Isn't it about time, Collectible Card Games get a separate category outside of Toys and Hobbies? Maybe instead of moving things around on the page, a programmer could set up a category just for cards. Magic, Pokémon, and all the other various game cards could be in a separate Main Category, since the Toys and Hobbies get flooded with batch listings of pages of cards.
Or, if it would be possible to remove select item categories that you have no interest in at all when searching a main category.

Perhaps save some individual searches of Diecast & Toy Vehicles, Models & Kits, and Classic Toys for a start.

Or try a slightly more targeted search of Toys & Hobbies than simply fire:

That's a great idea. You can send that feedback to by clicking the 'Feedback' button at the lower right hand of a search on a browser.
You might also try changing up your search to something like
fire -card -pokemon
minimum price = $8
