Search results
For the past few weeks, I've had a problem with search results, particularly in the category of sewing patterns. For example, I will type "Simplicity 4479," which is the number of a specific pattern, and I will get 1000+ results, most of which are Simplicity patterns, very few with the number 4479, or any number close to it. This is not helpful at all! Patterns is one of the things I sell, and I want to look up the price range when I create my listing, but I also think that if I were shopping for patterns, I would be quite frustrated at having to sort through 1000+ patterns to find the one that I wanted. I've had problems with other categories too, although to a lessor degree. It wasn't always like this; the problem started only recently. In the past, search results would display the closest match first (in the case of sewing patterns, those with the exact same number), and then similar related items (which would include the same brand of patterns but with other numbers).
I am looking for a way to email a complaint to eBay, but I can only find FAQ's and the button that eventually leads to a call from a representative. Anybody know why the search results have become so inexact, or how to complain to eBay about it, or whether they are working on it?

Mentor2 years agoYou may want to consider temporarily stopping email alerts for the searches affected, and possibly creating a new search with one of your search keywords enclosed in quotes in order to bypass the faulty keyword substitution feature which seems to be producing the irrelevant results.

Use the "Feedback" link on the search results page to alert eBay to the problem with a particular search. The more users report issues directly to eBay that way, the more likely eBay is to do something about the problem.
