Search Engine Disaster
Ebay has completely destroyed the search engine for sports trading cards. It is now impossible to find specific cards you want. A specific search with year and card number that should show less than 20 results now shows 1000+. I went from selling multiple cards a week to maybe 1 in a month and I have given up on buying as I cant search for anything specific, even using their "advanced" search. Of course there is no way to directly contact Ebay so I'm stuck posting here.

Mentor2 years agoSearches that were not working correctly for me Friday are now working once again, so eBay appears to have changed something recently, though the changes may not have propagated fully yet.
Try your searches again.

OP2 years agoI hope so, but right now if you search for this - "2021 select prizm kenny pickett 342", which should yield maybe 20 items, you get 1700+
It has been jacked up for more than a week.

Mentor2 years agoCurrently I get zero results for that 2021 search:
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=2021+select+prizm+kenny+pickett+342&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&_fsrp=1
But I get 41 results if I change the year to 2022:
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=2022+select+prizm+kenny+pickett+342&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&_fsrp=1

OP2 years agoOops yeah should have been 2022, you get correct results now
Wow, yeah it should have said 2022, but it is now working. Yesterday it was giving me nonsense for even easy searches like 2018 Bowman Oneil Cruz, all of a sudden its working
I'll give you all the credit lol

Mentor2 years agoGlad to hear the search is working again for you, too.
Lots of folks were having the same problem with some searches returning apparently irrelevant results starting last month, but the problem seemed to have gotten worse lately and even saved searches started being affected.
I think the volume of the recent complaints may have reached a point where eBay was bound to take action to correct the issue.
