I'm sure I'm not the first to mention this, and I doubt anything can be done about it, but it's one of those annoyances that I've got to get off my chest.
I search for an item, for example "metal box". I choose my criteria (under $17, US Only, Buy It Now, etc.). I get something like 46,000 results.
A lot of the results are over my price limit because shipping is high. So I sort by "Price + Shipping: Lowest First." Perfect, that solves my problem. Now I can just scroll through them until I hit my price limit, including shipping. Good job, eBay!
But wait a minute: Now I only have 2,500 results. How the flying holy heck does sorting results by price eliminate 43,000 items from my search results? What does one have to do with the other? What results am I losing by having them dropped from the list? Maybe one of the lost results is just what I'm looking for.
I would appreciate any help or insight into this, or at least people agreeing with me that this is very aggravating.

OP2 years agoSo it's like if I go to the doctor and say, My thumb hurts when I do this, the answer is, Don't do that. 😄

Mentor2 years agoThe "lowest first" sort is prone to extreme filtering of results lately. And the notice with the "See more results" link may not always appear as it should.
Avoid that sort if you want to see all results.
