Ebay recently let someone scam me on a purchase. Then they refused to honor the money back guarantee.
What should I do? I never received a package, Ebay confirmed this but still won't refund my money.

OP2 years agoI also started a dispute with my credit card company today. I am also planning on closing my account since Ebay is not returning my money.

How did the seller scam you? Do you have details of the situation?
Did you file a Refund Request through Ebay's Money Back Guarantee within 30 days from estimated date of delivery?
Personally, I have always had luck when using the Ebay Money Back Guarantee.
By the way, since you have now turned to your credit card company for help, Ebay can no longer assist you.

OP2 years agoEbay has record of the seller not shipping me the order and even admitted it. They noted that this seller is being investigated. Ebay is telling me that they won't refund my money because the seller was able to get away with the money. So, they will not be able to get it back from the seller. I am only going to use Amazon after this. Ebay has so many scammers on here. It's like you're just waiting to have your money stolen when doing business with Ebay. It doesn't matter if Ebay can no longer assist me because they have not been doing anything anyways. I refuse to lose my money and will continue to fight until i have every penny back. The fact that you have had to use the money back guarantee just shows how many dishonest sellers are on Ebay.

That cannot be true. If the seller did not ship, then Ebay does not issue the payout to the seller. Ebay does not "get it back" from the seller because the seller would not have received the funds.
How did Ebay "tell" you that? Did you file the Refund Request within 30 days from date of delivery like I asked you earlier? If so, did you go back to your request details and ask Ebay to step in and help you if the seller did not cooperate with the Refund Request?
In my 23 years on Ebay, I have had to resort to the Ebay Money Back Guarantee only about 4 or 5 times, and each time I have been refunded, thanks to Ebay.
You can try to file a dispute through Paypal or contact your credit card company. Just be aware that once you do that, Ebay can no longer help you.
EDITED TO ADD: If you waited beyond 30 days from estimated date of delivery, Ebay can't help you. Ebay's Money Back Guarantee is valid for 30 days from estimated date of delivery. So what date did you file the Refund Request and what date was the estimated date of delivery, according to the Order Details in your Purchase History?

OP2 years agoI did everything correctly, Ebay is just a dishonest company. I filed through my credit card company so hopefully they get the money back that ebay stole from me. It was impossible trying to talk to the ebay employees who do not even speak English. They all just have these q cards that they read and can't think for themselves. It's like none of the employees have a brain. Ebay has gotten so bad over the years. Fingers crossed that the credit card company does the job that Ebay could not. Amazon will be getting all of my business from now on.

What reason did Ebay give for denying your Refund Request?
Again, HOW did Ebay "tell" you that "the seller was able to get away with the money"? (not possible since the seller cannot be paid if they never shipped.)
I feel like some information may be missing here.
