How can I get a hold of eBay to let them know someone is trying to scam me on a recent sale. I want to make sure eBay is aware before I proceed with any further communication

You can and should report it before continuing any communication.
Report the buyer or seller directly through eBay using the Report a member form

Choose the reason that best fits the situation and include screenshots or message details if requested. This puts the account on eBay’s radar immediately.
If the issue is tied to a specific order, also report it from the order itself
Go to Manage orders

Open the order and use Report a problem where available.

Another option many sellers use for live support is eBay for Business on Facebook

Until eBay reviews it, do not ship, do not refund outside of eBay, and keep all communication inside eBay messages so it is fully documented.
