·1 year agoIf you gave the codes from an eBay Gift Card (including sending them a photo of any part of the card, e.g. to prove you have it) to anyone other than in Checkout on ebay.com (or another country eBay site) or an eBay app, you might as well have just flushed the card down the toilet. Especially not on the phone (or by text or email).
Nothing eBay can do to get your money back.
To use a gift card to pay for an auction you won on eBay, you need to manually checkout (again, eBay website or app) within 1 hour of the end of the auction.
Last I checked you could use an eBay gift card to pre-authorize automatic payment to make an offer (but not a bid on an auction, hence the 1 hour window to manually check out) by entering its code in a box for that towards the bottom of the make offer form or "Review".
