Scammed on Bobcat Purchase – No Delivery, PayPal Denied – What Can I Do Next?
Hi everyone, I’m looking for advice because I’m stuck and running out of options.
On December 31, 2025, I purchased a Bobcat MT100 Mini Track Loader (landscaping equipment, NOT a vehicle) through eBay and paid $14,277.91 via PayPal, funded by my Huntington Bankaccount.
Here’s what happened:
- The item was never delivered
- The seller stopped responding after payment
- I tried to open a case with eBay but had trouble getting through initially (I have phone records)
- I filed a claim with PayPal, and after ~2 months, they denied it, saying the item falls under a “vehicle category,” which is incorrect — this is landscaping equipment
- I also disputed with my bank, but they denied it, saying it was just a transfer to PayPal
I feel like I’ve fallen into a loophole where:
- eBay didn’t process my claim in time
- PayPal miscategorized the item
- The bank is refusing to help because it went through PayPal
Questions:
- Has anyone successfully appealed a PayPal denial like this?
- Is there a way to escalate this within eBay after the fact?
- Can eBay still step in if the item was never delivered?
- Any advice on how to prove this is NOT a vehicle so it qualifies for protection?
- Has anyone recovered funds in a situation like this?
This is a significant financial loss for me, and I’m trying to understand if there’s still any path to recovery.
Any guidance, similar experiences, or escalation tips would be greatly appreciated.
